BREAKING: Tyler Boebert Charged With Sexual Exploitation of a Child in New Garfield County Case

Tyler Jay Boebert, the 21-year-old son of Rep. Lauren Boebert, is facing a new felony case in Garfield County, Colorado, and the charges are the most serious he has ever faced.

According to Colorado court records reviewed by American Muckrakers, case 2026CR234 was filed in Garfield County District Court on August 6, 2026. The People of the State of Colorado v. Boebert, Tyler J lists five counts:

1. Sexual exploitation of a child, induce/entice (C.R.S. 18-6-403(3)(a)), a Class 3 felony
2. Sexual exploitation of a child, possession with intent (C.R.S. 18-6-403(3)(c)), a Class 3 felony
3. Sexual exploitation of a child, video (C.R.S. 18-6-403(3)(b.5), (5)(b)(II)), a Class 4 felony
4. Contributing to the delinquency of a minor (C.R.S. 18-6-701(1)(a)), a Class 4 felony
5. Contributing to the delinquency of a minor (C.R.S. 18-6-701(1)(a)), a Class 4 felony

The docket shows a rapid sequence: an information and affidavit filed August 6, a warrant upon affidavit issued August 7, bond set the same day at $10,000 cash or surety, and the warrant canceled August 9. A county jail release log obtained by American Muckrakers shows Boebert released from custody on August 9, 2026.

The case is assigned to Judge Elise Victoria Myer in Division C. The arresting agency is listed as the Garfield County Sheriff's Office. Court records list the offense dates as beginning January 1, 2024.

The timing could not be worse for the Boebert family. Tyler Boebert is already scheduled for two sentencing hearings next month in separate cases: September 4 in Weld County (case 2025M2424) and September 10 in Garfield County (case 2024CR57). His mother, Rep. Lauren Boebert, is expected to testify on his behalf at those hearings. Whether this new felony case changes that calculus, or those hearings, remains to be seen.
